Mercedes 300 SE, Winner 24h Spa 1964, Robert Crevits, (B)
Taf Gosselin, ( B). 1964 was the very first 24h race for touring cars in Spa.
This car was the eventual winner after the sister car #100 with Eugen Böhringer and Dieter Glemser was disqualified after swapping a broken brake disc from the retired sister car #101.
Böhringer /Glemser led the race most of the time.
This repair would have been legal if the #101 would have been located in the pit area, but it wasn‘t. Same tragedy happened one year later to Hubert Hahne and Willy Mairesse in their BMW 1800 Tisa. They led the race over nearly the full distance, but retired in the very last hour with a broken flywheel.
